Polishing the Website

Turns out when you take an unexpected hiatus because life demanded it, your host platform makes some updates that breaks small things.

So what’s broken? Well, as you saw in my last update, one of my support forms is broken (Ko-Fi is still functional). But there are some other pieces, minor (invisible?) to you, major to me, because of how much thought and effort went into what’s happening behind the scenes. For instance, I now see broken CSS on a special style I used to indicate a web search. It’s visual only, but nevertheless something I wanted to do to make it obvious this was a different format. Instead, something has taken precedent and turned this style into a list. Contextually, it’s obvious what it’s supposed to be. Most readers won’t notice, or care. But I care. If I wanted bullets to appear, I wouldn’t have used a custom styling.

And so here and there you will be noticing that a font that was sans serif has gone serif, or vice versa. A list becomes bulleted and unbulleted.

And here I thought all I had to do was copy and paste chapters from the book I edited last summer before life table-flipped!

*sigh* The life of a web admin/author with a full-time job because health insurance is a thing. At least most of the core functionality of the site hasn’t been impeded (support form aside). A link in a template that I used across the site did, unfortunately, break, and of course it’s the link that should auto-update with the site.

You should still be able to read the entirety of Flicker, as well as the first chapter of Spark that I just posted.

I’ll just be here with wrenches and hammers and such for the next few days.

Until next time,

Liz
